The Special Funds Accounts Committee is a Select Committee of the House established under the National Assembly's Standing Orders Number 205A to examine accounts laid before the House.
The Committee examines the National Govemment Constituencies Development Fund, the Equalization Fund, the Judiciary Fund, the Political Parties Fund and other Funds established by
law as the Speaker may direct.
The Committee was established in the fifth session of the Eleventh Parliament following the review
of the National Assembly's Standing Orders and is amongst the three Watchdog Committees of the Twelfth Parliament that examines reports of the Auditor- General laid before the National Assembly to ensure probity, efficiency and effectiveness in the use of public funds.
Reports on audited financial statements for the NG-CDF from the two hundred and ninety (290) Constituencies formed the bulk of the work of the Committee. The Committee received backlog of these reports dating back to the financial year 2013114, and has been able to dispense with 156 reports from fifty-two (52) Constituencies in the Counties of Nairobi, Kisumu, Kiambu, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Lamu and Tana River for financial years 2013114, 20l4ll5 and
20ts/t6.
In addition, the Committee has dispensed with reports of various key funds and proposed various recommendations geared towards effective discharge of mandates of the public entities
